Preposition are short words that link other words or phrases within a sentence. They generally show a relationship that exists between them. For Example in, at, on etc. Some prepositions are made up of more than one word. They are called complex prepositions. For Example as far as, up to, etc.
Preposition of Space - Place and Direction:
We can use preposition of space to indicate position or direction. The object of a preposition of position is the place where someone or something is. A preposition of direction is used with a verb of movement:

Common prepositions of places & direction: On, at, in, by, from, to, towards, up, down, across, between, among, through, in front of, behind, above, over, under, below, etc. are the most common.

Below / Under / Beneath
A. 'Below' and 'under' both mean lower than ( in level) and sometimes either can be used. But under usually denotes physical cantact and below denotes space between the things. e.g.
